But Why Relationship Rehab? Isn't there enough information already?

I thought you'd NEVER ask. It kinda got started after a chat with another dog trainer (all my great ideas come from chats with other dog trainers - and some of their great ideas too, hey Danielle). And then of course I started thinking about my journey and I realised that what I use not only wasn't available when I needed it, there still isn't anything that can truly help dog owners build a relationship with their dogs that really makes a difference.

I know how frustrating, embarrassing, scary and upsetting it can be when our dogs won't listen to us. Especially when they do things that put other dogs and people in danger! Trust me, Zakkie bailed people up and Kaz wanted to kill every dog she met - it was NOT fun! And I just didn't know what to do!

I blamed Zak's issues on him being a rescue. But Kaz... her issues were ALL my fault! And I knew it. But I didn't know how to fix it! I trained my dogs three times a day every day and it still didn't matter. I brought every DVD and online class and attended seminars and trained with some of the best trainers in the world and still my dogs wouldn't listen!

I did classes like relationship building through play. I never made a sound when my dogs bit me when I moved the toy wrong in case it would damage our relationship. I was covered in bruises and scars. And yet, whenever Delta thought someone else was more exciting than me, she was off playing with them. Even Kaz chose my husband over me - and he never even played with or trained the dogs. I felt frustrated. I felt deflated. I felt jealous!

I worked harder at my play skills and my training. And yet, Delta ended up choosing an animal abuser over me. I wasn't happy. But I didn't know what to change or how to fix it. I did everything the "experts" told me to do. And yet, my dogs fought, were reactive to dogs and people and really, couldn't care less about me.

Don't get me wrong. My dogs looked great in the competition ring. I could make it look like we had a great relationship. But looks were very much deceiving! I was a mess. I was in tears more often than I was not.

Then I decided to throw everything out of the window. I stopped blindly believing the "experts". I started testing everything! I knew I was missing something and I knew it wasn't rocket surgery! And, long story short, that's how Relationship Rehab came about!
